The truth about veils!

6/20/2016

Picture
It's no secret that we all love when brides pair a veil with their wedding dress, and truth be told usually when anyone thinks of a bride; you envision a veil on her head. A wedding veil is angelic, soft, romantic, and your veil should compliment your dress, enhance your wedding day look, or as we like to say "finish" you.

Just the other day I had a bride come in with her older sister (whom I sold a dress to 5 years ago) and after a fun, and lively appointment the bride said yes to her dress and it was time to look at bridal accessories!  When I asked her if she wanted to try a veil with her dress she flat out told me she was not planning on wearing a veil.  When I tell you this bride wouldn't hear of it, let me tell you; she was not having it.  Now I hear this often, and sometimes when brides picture a wedding veil they envision a scene from "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" where the main character's veil takes up what seems like the entire back of the limo and this horrifying image is now burned into their memory of what a wedding veil looks like.  But veils today look nothing like that!  I stood by as her older sister begged her to try veils with her dress, and admitted to me that looking back at her wedding photos her biggest regret was that she didn't wear a veil with her dress (I told you so?) .  Bound and determind not to let her younger sister make the same mistake, and after a it of bickering between sisters she finally agreed to try a veil.  The moment that veil went on her head, her sister, her mother, her mother in law, and even the bride began to cry.  I'm not sure if it was the vision of seeing herself for the first time really looking "finished", or maybe it was the first time it hit all of them that... this is really happening, she's getting married.  After trying 5 or 6 veils she chose one that suited both her dress, and her  personal style perfectly and the decision was made.  This bride was wearing a veil!

There are many reasons for wearing a veil other than just to finish your bridal look.  In ancient Greece and Rome the veil was used as protection against evil spirits as the bride walks down the aisle.  These days the veil doesn't always cover the face,  in fact in many modern wedding the veil only covers the head and a portion of the back of the head. Veils can be long and elaborate, short and simple, and even full and fluffy. While historically veils have been known to be pure white, with the ever changing colors of wedding dresses, today they come in shades of ivory, diamond white, gold, blush, champagne, and even pink!

There are also multiple length veils that you can wear!  Thanks to movies like "Sweet Home Alabama" Reese Witherspoon single handedly introduced the world to the beauty of a birdcage style veil, which can be made out of a classic tulle, or a more spaced out tulle such as "Russian tulle".  Flyaway veils and shoulder length veils are the hardest to find, mostly because when people put on this length I often hear the comment that they feel ridiculous. Elbow length veils, finger tip length veils, and cathedral length veils are the most popular these days, as these styles go with mostly any style wedding dress.

Check out the veil styles below, there are so many edgings, veil styles, and lengths to choose from!  Let your bridal consultant pull the perfect veil for you, we have a feeling you just may love it!

Diamonds & Wedding dresses, two of my favorite things!

Being in this industry for so long has given me the opportunity to see many, many different engagement rings.  Granted every now and then I see a ring style that I've "seen before", I must admit; those are becoming more and more few and far between.
There are so many different variations of engagement rings these days, and it's really amazing to see what brides are wearing. Whether the ring was chosen specificially for you, passed down, a family member's ring or even stone, it's hard not to notice the glitzy rings when our brides walk in the door.  From the band color, to colored diamonds, to incorporating gemstones that have special meaning to you or your significant other, they're all so unique!  It sounds cliche, but it's really cool to see the rocks on our brides hands!

If you didn't know, we're located only 5 minutes down the street from one of the area's largest and most prestigious jewelers, Barmakian Jewelers in Nashua, NH.  Having been in business for over 100 years, they truly set the standard in both customer service as well as quality.  Don't let the exterior intimidate you, they have something for everyone!  Check out a few of our favorites below!

Long Sleeve Wedding Dresses!

6/1/2016

If you're like many of the brides that we work with, you might be looking for something that's a little different.  Perhaps you envision yourself in something with a sleeve.  Lace long sleeved wedding dresses have an air of romance about them, (not to mention they're very difficult to find in a reasonable price point).  But have no fear, we've done all the work of tracking down the prettiest ones and we have your long sleeve lace gown waiting for you!

You may not know that we fly out and purchase our gowns very carefully, and we're very picky about what we choose! You also may not know that like our brides, we also set sail with a budget to buy our dresses.  We've found that if we stay within a certain price point we're able to stock the huge quantity of dresses in the store that we currently do (over 400 gowns in stock daily).  The majority of our gowns fall under the $2,000 price point; though there may be some that come in higher, and plenty that come in lower (think: $1100-$1700).

We try our very hardest to purchase the best looking, most romantic, boho, sophisticated, sexy, and beautiful long sleeved lace wedding dresses on the market; and we definitely have them here for you to try for yourself!  Check out just a few of the ones we stock below, including a showstopping new ad shot from one of our vendors featured above, (yep, that dress is here too!).

See something you like?  Give us a call!  We can't wait to meet you!
